How to ask out a guy?

There is this guy at school my age and stuff and i really like him....i'm to afraid to tell him how i feel because well he likes this girl name Krista shes really nice to everybody and shes a cheerleader (like me) but people keep saying and i hear them saying he likes her and stuff and he always looks at her all the time in science class. Boys have asked me out but im waiting for him to ask me out i've been liking him for a year i am not kidding! How can i ask him out...please help
